After earning their first victory of the World Cup qualifying campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over El Salvador, Panama will look to keep their momentum going when they host Suriname on Tuesday.
Thomas Christiansen’s men have had a mixed start, with two draws and one win so far, but the signs are promising. Veteran striker José Fajardo continues to deliver, scoring the decisive goal last time out — his 16th for the national team. Playing at the Rommel Fernández Stadium, Panama will expect to dominate, particularly with the attacking support of Édgar Bárcenas and Adalberto Carrasquilla pulling the strings in midfield.
Unbeaten in their last six home matches across all competitions, the hosts will aim to control proceedings early and secure three more crucial points in their quest for a second-ever World Cup appearance.
Suriname showing signs of progress
Suriname, ranked 131st in the world, have exceeded expectations so far. Stanley Menzo’s men top the group after three games, following a 1-1 draw with Guatemala in which Virgil Misidjan scored a dramatic late equaliser.
However, facing Panama away is a different challenge. The visitors have struggled defensively in high-pressure matches and will need to stay compact to avoid an early collapse. Without the injured Djenairo Daniels, Suriname will rely on the pace and creativity of Sheraldo Becker and Misidjan in transition.
Panama’s quality and experience should prove too strong, especially on home soil, and they will likely get the job done with a few goals to spare.
Prediction: Panama 2–0 Suriname
Tip: 1 and Over 1.5 Goals
