After back-to-back draws in their Champions League campaign, Bayer Leverkusen return to the BayArena hoping to secure their first European win of the season. Kasper Hjulmand’s side showed fighting spirit in their 2–2 draw with Copenhagen and were unfortunate not to hold on against PSV last time out.
The German outfit are notoriously strong at home — they have lost only once in their last 17 UEFA home games and kept clean sheets in all four League Phase matches last season. However, a lengthy injury list could test their depth, with Palacios, Schick, Terrier, and Tella all sidelined.
Leverkusen’s attack still packs a punch, though. Rising star Christian Michel Kofane has scored in three straight matches and will once again lead the line for the Bundesliga side.
PSG chasing another winning run in Europe
Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain are in formidable continental form, riding a 14-match unbeaten streak in the Champions League, winning 12 of them. Despite several injuries — including Marquinhos and Fabian Ruiz — Luis Enrique’s men showed their depth by coming from behind to beat Barcelona 2–1 last time out.
With Gonçalo Ramos, Bradley Barcola, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia all in strong attacking form, the Parisians are expected to continue their free-scoring ways.
